Snowdonia Celebrating over 30 years of
Success
As one of the first companies in the UK to invest in PVCu technology, Snowdonia can rightly justify its position today as a market and development leader in the windows, doors and conservatory industry.
Looking back to the late 1970’s it was a difficult time to be in the double-glazing industry. The very thought of plastics for replacing traditional windows was an innovation that met with significant resistance. However, Alan Wheatley and his brother-in-law Clwyd Griffiths, already running an established business supplying Cavity Wall and Loft Insulation, since 1974, saw that PVCu was the window material of the future.
Initially Snowdonia had to look to the continent for their products but just one year later in 1977 they commenced production of their first window frames. At that time it took an entire day to produce one frame – current production is around 10,000 products per year!
Once again, ahead of the competition, in 1982, Snowdonia supplied and installed their first PVCu conservatory. In 1986, further growth continued when they opened a branch in Caernarfon, which secured Snowdonia’s position as the premier conservatory, window and door company in North Wales.
In 2004, the company expanded into Cheshire with the opening of their large lifestyle conservatory showroom in Nantwich. With over 100 staff, a fleet of over 70 vehicles and showrooms in Mold, Caernarfon and Nantwich, rest assured this family run business is established, experienced and here to stay.
